James Yee
Chaplain Yee is a third-generation Chinese American and a 1990 graduate of West Point, who reverted to Islam in April of 1991. He has served in the US Army for 14 years. In 2001, Captain James "Yusuf" Yee was commissioned as one of the first Muslim chaplains in the United States Army.
 
In June 2006, Chaplain Yee earned his Masters degree in International Relations. He now lectures about his harrowing ordeal, Guantanamo Bay, Islam, Asian-American and religious diversity issues, and the challenges of protecting both national security and civil liberties. He has appeared on many national and global news programmes. 
 
Chaplain Yee has briefed congressional staff members on Capitol Hill and lectured at Harvard, Yale, Oxford (UK), Columbia, Stanford, Duke, Northwestern University and several other academic institutions of higher learning in the US and the U K.
